In accordance with Colonial Regulation No.62, I have! the honour to transmit the enclosed copy of a minute of proceedings before the Executive Council in connection with certain irregularit- ies committed by Mr. P. A. V. Remedios, 1st Grade Clerk, Post Office, and to refer the Council's decision for your confirmation.

Mr. Remedios' offence, which was reported in the Postmaster General's minute of the 13th October, copy enclosed, consisted in keeping his private moneys in the Insured Letter Safe in the General Post Office and in allowing unauthorised members of the public access to the office and safe.

3.

On the 21st October a letter, copy enclosed, was addressed to Mr. Remedios. I attach a copy of his reply and of a further letter in which the Colonial Secretary informed him that a Committee composed of the Colonial Secretary, the Attorney General and the Colonial Treasurer would be appointed to investigate the charges preferred against him.

The report presented by the Committee, copy of which is enclosed, was laid before the 3xecutive Council on the 26th November and its recommendations endorsed. At my instance, however, Council agreed that in consideration of Mr. Remedios' long service, he should retain his personal allowance but that he should forfeit
